At Serious Health we recruit nurse partners to provide 'Next of Kin’ Care. The ‘Next of Kin’ Care Model is where nurses welcome clients into their personal homes (e.g., foster care) and then the nurses provide the same services that a client would get from a family member - food preparation, transport, medication management, and emotional support - with a 3:1 client to nurse ratio.


Family consists of the people who offer you a sense of belonging, acceptance, and connection.

The goal is to place disabled clients into a family experience within the personal homes of licensed healthcare professionals.

This client lives with you for the rest of their natural lives.

 By providing individualized services that support each resident’s independence and overall community integration.

Services include but are not limited to: hands-on assistance, supervision, medication management, transportation, food preparation, appointment setting, community fun, and other support intended to help the individual exercise choices, in your personal home.

  • What type of individual will I serve?

    Become A "Next Of Kin" Caretaker At Serious Health

  • How much will I be paid?

    Your payment will come to you on a monthly basis. You will get a per day rate for each person. With rates ranging from approximately $30-$300 per day. The rate is depends on the complexity of the case, the type of care you provide and how much support is needed throughout each day.

  • How long is this contract?

    This is not a regular job, nor is it a regular contract. This` is a lifetime decision.  Because you are giving a home to the person you care for this is a new family member. Expect to spend time together celebrating holidays, birthdays and additional life milestones. 

  • Am I an employee?

    You are not an employee, you are a contractor it means you can make your own decisions for your house, for your schedule and how you operate with the best interest of your client in mind. No worries, we will help! You are not alone as a ‘Next of Kin’ caregiver, we will give you all the tools you need to succeed.

  • Do I get benefits?

    As a contractor, it is your responsibility to have your own liability insurance for your property. Your own liability insurance is required, and we can connect you to a vendor. Health insurance is not provided but we can connect you to a vendor. 

  • How many individuals can I have in my home?

    You can have up to three individuals in your home. The most important requirement is that each individual has their own room.

  • How often will I get paid?

    Your payment will be once a month.

  • How long does it take to get started?

    The process will take approximately one or two months. The sooner you complete your profile and training, the sooner you can get your individuals.

  • Can I have other people helping me?

    Of course! Nobody wants you to do it all by yourself. Being a caregiver is very hard. Make sure that your backup person is introduced to us before starting the serve because they will need a background check as well as training.

  • What if I have other people living in my home?

    Having other people living in your home is not a problem. It's the opposite, we love to create community, it always helps by creating a healthy environment for everybody.

  • What types of paperwork will I be responsible for?

    Daily notes are required. We don’t want to make anything difficult for you, the notes are so that we can see and have records of how the process going with everyone. We will teach you how to do each thing required of you.

  • What type of training do I need?

    Required is First Aid/CPR certification and nursing or other healthcare professional license/or extensive caregiver experience, we will provide you with additional training and we will guide you through the entire process.
